Why it matters

What happens if a rental is not registered.

23%

Only 23% of landlords know about the new landlord database and ombudsman, and rollout starts in December. Source: August Landlord Survey, reported by LandlordZONE on 19 October 2026.

Fines of up to £7,000

Councils can fine a landlord for letting or advertising a home without an active register entry.

No possession order

Courts cannot normally grant possession unless both the landlord and the property are registered.

£65 a property, renewed each year, and the entry has to stay accurate.

Questions

Before you start

When does my region start?

Registration opens region by region from 15 December 2026, and each region then has 3 months. See the dates for your region on our landlord database page.

What if I have more than 3 rentals?

Each extra rental is £10 a year on top of the £59.

What if it is not for me?

Tell us within 30 days of joining and we will refund you in full.

Do I still pay the £65 government fee?

Yes. You register and pay that fee on GOV.UK. Register Ready keeps everything the register asks for ready, and up to date.

PropSignals is not the government service: you register, and pay the £65 fee, on GOV.UK. Register details are from the Renters' Rights Act 2025 and the draft database regulations, as published in October 2026; this is general information, not legal advice. Mortgage and protection advice is given by TLD Wealth Management Ltd (FRN 670100), an appointed representative of TPD Wealth Management Ltd, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 606559). Jon Turner, who runs PropSignals, is an owner of TLD and a director of TPD. No broker fee applies to applications started while your membership is active; TLD may still be paid commission by the lender or insurer. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. Most buy to let mortgages are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
